What is Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)?
Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) of varicose veins
can also be called endovenous radiofrequency ablation. This would differentiate it from just radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of other tissue such as radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of liver tumours or radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of the prostate etc.
Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of varicose veins, like all medical terms, merely states what it is in "medical speak":

‘Radiofrequency’ - this term means the changing of something, usually an electric current, at radiofrequency rates. If you look at your analogue radio, or at your favourite radio station, you will see that tune it in you have to select it in the KiloHertz (kHz) or MegaHertz (MHz) range. These two terms merely represent the frequency of the radio station signal - KiloHertz (kHz) meaning thousands of cycles per second and MegaHertz (MHz) meaning millions of cycles per second. How this represents radiofrequency ablation of varicose veins will be described in the next section below
‘Ablation’ - means the destruction of tissue but in this sense, killing the tissue without removing it
